SPF… home edition

August 18, 2006 at 12:59 am (SPF, this and that)

TGIF… time to play :) Kristine had another “challenge” for us this week, namely to take pictures around the house.

1. Your Supplies

These are my supplies on my desk.

2. Your Bag

This is the purse I currently use. I have to say, I really need a new one. I used to have another [fake] black leather purse, but it’s falling apart, so I didn’t want to post it here. I guess I am the only girl without a whole closet of purses from which to choose.

3. Your Mail box

This is our mailbox at my parents’ house. It does look different from the US mailboxes. It has a separate slot for the newspaper and the actual box for the mail can only be accessed with a key. As you can see from the size of it, it’ll actually fit the large envelopes without having to bend them.
Also, in Germany we have mailboxes attached to the house… always. There’s nothing like these “street mailboxes” where the mail for all the houses in the street is delivered. Keep in mind, in Germany mail is delivered by bike! I used to work for the postal service and I always wished I had one of these cool US mail vehicles to deliver the mail LOL

So, did you play?

SPF – the title company

August 11, 2006 at 2:11 am (SPF, this and that)

Yes, it’s Friday again and I’ve gotten so used to playing SPF on Fridays. This week Kristine asked a lot of creativity from us when she told us to come up with titles and post a picture that goes with it.

1. Song Title: People are strange

Yeah, aren’t we people strange dressing up for carnival [or halloween for that matter]… trying to be something that we could never be in real life. This photo was taken about 3 years back when I went to a carnival party… needless to say that I desperately wanted to be a bear [and if you thought now that I was dressed up as a cat… you’re wrong!!!].

2. Book Title: The Outlander

A picture of the world-famous “Lone cypress” at Pebble Beach taken October 2004. The lighting was amzing that evening. Doesn’t it seem like it tried to put itself as far “outland” as possible?

3. Movie Title: The Rock

I just love rocks! I am taking pictures of them all the time and I am glad Kristine gave me the opportunity to post one of my rock pictures again ;)

I hope you all played! And if you did, let us know!

1. Your Spices

Well, these would be my Mom’s spices again… since I am still stuck in Germany and can’t take a picture of the really pretty spice rack that we have in our apartment in LA. I love my Mom’s spice cabinet, because you can almost find anything in there that you need for fun cooking :)

2. Salt and Pepper

Well… I really thought about this one for a while and didn’t really know what to do about this second assignment… I hope you like what I came up with ;)

3. Add a little spice to your picture.

This is the result of playing around with one of my recent pictures [showing me and my friend Annie] and the link that Kristine posted. I do have photoshop, but I wanted to try this out ;)

So, did you PLAY???

One thing I need to talk about is: We’ll have a Subway in my town soon. I would never have thought that we would get a place like that in my town [since it’s pretty small and I’ve only seen Subway in the big cities in Germany]… but I’ve seen the signs up and it will be opened soon! This is so great! If they would mind opening a Starbucks here, too?! ;)

The last few days were pretty busy… I was tutoring again for two hours a day and then we went to a birthday on Wednesday night, paid a visit to my great-aunt yesterday [my sister and I usually go grocery shopping with her and then stay for some cappuccino afterwards] and last night I went to the movies with my friend Ira. We watched “Pirates of the Caribbean II“. I loved it! Johnny Depp is just awesome as Captain Jack Sparrow. He’s just cracking me up. It’s like this role was just custom-made for him! I am usually always very critical of sequels to movies, but this was a work of art again! [I just wish I could have seen it in English – dubbing just takes so much away].

SPF… before I am heading to Berlin

July 28, 2006 at 7:54 am (friends, SPF, this and that)

Kristine gave us another task for this Friday. We are supposed to post pictures of the following:

1. Something Mean looking. IMG_1322s

Emma is my sister’s cat. She’s the sweetest cat ever and she has never bitten or scratched anyone before. I am going to miss her a lot, so I wanted to take some pictures to take to CA and put on my fridge… and there she is, looking all mean. I don’t believe she agrees with me moving to the States soon.

2. Your weapons

My supercute, thinly-strapped 4″ high heels… I love them and they look awesome, but if you don’t watch out, I could use them to pierce your eyeballs ;)

3. Your Hiding Place

Well, this used to be the place in my old room at my parents’ place where I would sit and talk on the phone or read or watch TV or write letters… or just hide from the world. It was either this couch or my bed. Seems to be a pretty common hiding place if you ask me.

So, I am going to Berlin today. I’ve spontaneously decided a few days ago to get a train ticket [I am still using my Weltmeister Bahncard] and keep my promise to visit my friend Silke who moved to Berlin a few years ago. I’ve known her since we were 3 years old and we went to school together. Since I have two more penfriends there, I am making this a “go and visit your friends”-weekend. I’ll be back on Tuesday. If you don’t hear from me beforehand, you’ll get all the news when I get back. Have a great weekend!

It’s SPF again…

spf Stuff Unnoticed

 Forentreff in Oberhausen 31

I have never got my ears pierced. For some people that’s like a big shock… “Are you serious? You don’t have your ears pierced?”… [like it’s something a girl HAS to do at some point during her life … most likely before the teenage years]. So, I’ve never got them pierced… the earlobes that is. I am wearing a little ring in my right auricle. Can you see it on the picture?… it almost always goes unnoticed.

My Wish

Right now my biggest wish is to get my green card and be able to live with Jon. The whole immigration process has been going on for much too long.

Stuff Under my [Mom’s] sink

Well, I have to admit… this is not my stuff under the sink since I am staying at my parents’ house right now. So I hope they will forgive me for showing off theirs :)

Happy SPF everyone… who else played?
